Description

Labour, an exhibition, slated for presentation at the Justina Barnicke Gallery at the Art Museum, considers societal – implicit and explicit – racial biases through the lens of Blackness and Indigeneity, exploring, among other concerns, how labour might be placed onto white and spectral forms of racialized identity. The works included in the exhibition examine white supremacy’s manifestation in institutional power paradigms and its ensuing weathering of Black and Indigenous people. In so doing, this exhibition operationalizes and reverses the unseen labour while activating alternative pedagogies from Black and Indigenous perspectives.

This is a panel discussion on the exhibition themes featuring the exhibited artists.
