2024 Jackman Humanities Institute Writing Retreat

March 20, 2024 by Sonja Johnston

In need of dedicated time to focus on that journal article or book proposal? Looking for a supportive, distraction-free environment to start something entirely new? The JHI is hosting a Writing Retreat for tri-campus faculty members in the Humanities and qualitative Social Sciences to help you jump start or finally finish your writing project.

Join your colleagues in-person at the JHI for a daily series of curated writing sessions. The retreat runs for two weeks, from May 21-30, 10am-3pm, in person at the Jackman Humanities Institute’s beautiful 10th Floor space (170 St. George Street).

The sessions will be loosely structured, with curated writing prompts for the day provided to participants by the JHI Research Officer. Each day will start with a chance to review or reflect on progress from the day before, and to set goals for the upcoming day’s writing sessions. Writing blocks will happen in the morning and after the lunch break. There will be an optional and self-organized 60-minute feedback session in the afternoon only for those seeking feedback and connection with colleagues, after the day’s formal session ends at 3pm.

Register now! Spaces are very limited. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2024, 4:00pm (Eastern time).
